Catching up............

I didn’t realize that I was so behind on updating the blog until recently. While at the Fayette County High School homecoming parade a woman came up to me and said, “Hey, I read your blog” and she wanted to know why I hadn’t written anything lately.

I think I have been slack on keeping up with the blog because I know most everyone has already seen the pictures on Krisha’s Facebook page and may not need/want to see it again, BUT for the few of you that do read the blog and keep up with us, I hope you enjoy the “catch up”.

Because, I blog. I do not Facebook, Myspace, Tweet or any of the other social networking stuff…..I blog as a way to have a journal about our lives.

Summer Fun, Preschool, ALABAMA Football begins, Krisha's birthday................
The girls started preschool, this was taken the first day they attended.

In August, they officially started the school year.

This was Johnny Appleseed's birthday party at school.

The girls say, "ROLL TIDE"

The three most precious things in the world to me.

Where did our babies go??????

Watching a movie in Pop Pop's truck

  • The girls are totally into the Disney Princess thing! Lainey is everything Cinderella, while Aubrey is everything Belle.
  • They started out with two kittens, Cinderella and Belle. However, Belle was called home to Jesus very early, leaving Cinderella alone.
    • Pop Pop and I went to Lowes to purchase a dishwasher with Krisha, came home with two NEW kittens to keep Cinderella company, Tinkerbell and Jasmine. (FYI, Cinderella could care less about them!)
  • They love riding in Pop Pop's new truck because it has a built in DVD player with headphones. (D's car has no DVD player, so the carseats stay in the truck more than the car now).
  • They love saying ROLL TIDE and will quickly tell you that Auburn stinks.
  • They are NOT shy to ask Pop Pop for money, it started out asking for coinzies (quarters) and moved up to dollars. Also, they have the batting the eyes and giving that sweet smile to him for extra change too!
  • Aubrey totally has my OCD habits, while Lainey has my hard-headedness. (This is a statement from Krisha, she blames it all on me!)
  • They are growing up TOO Fast......
Eli has his good days and his bad days now, he spends most of his time sleeping. He only travels to the vet as needed, but as a treat we sometimes ride him in the subdivision. He LOVES the girls and they love him. When they aren't here he will go into their room for a nap (But he never bothers any of their toys!) I count each day  with him as a precious blessing.

On 02/12/2012 it officially happened....

Yep, it has happened.

AUBREY & LAINEY WROTE ON MOMA D's WALLS

Krisha was asleep in the recliner, Jim was watching golf on TV, and I was on the couch surfing the internet for news about Whitney Houston's death. (Dan was at work)

To us (the grown ups) we think the girls are just in their room playing with all of their  toys. However, suddenly Jim pops up straight on the other couch, looks at me and in a scared voice says, "They are writing on the wall!"  I jump up and  both of them are going at it while on Lainey's bed. Not leisurely with just one hand each, they have crayons in BOTH hands going at it! The wall never had a chance.

So, Krisha looks at me and says, "Those were washable crayons, right?" In my defense, it has been almost 30 years since I had a child with crayons.......seriously,  you can get washable crayons? We soon discovered, they were not washable crayons.

Krisha goes to purchase Mr. Clean's magical erasers and we go to work. Will the walls ever look normal again? Only time will tell after they have a chance to dry.

As we were getting in the car to go to Life Group, I looked at Krisha and said, "Well, I think that I handled that better than I did when you wrote on the walls as a child!" I am getting better! Ha. (Yes, it is true........our grandchildren can get away with A LOT more than our children ever thought about getting away with!)

Homecoming Parade....

Jim and I went with Krisha and the girls to Alabama's Homecoming Parade on Saturday. Before the parade Krisha and I had to make a stop in "The Shirt Shop" for a new tee, then Jim treated us to lunch at Mugshots. Aubrey and Lainey enjoyed the parade, but Lainey is more outgoing and not as afraid to talk to people. She loved waving at the beautiful Queen and her court....while Aubrey had her head on Jim's shoulder peeking out with one eye!

Jim and Krisha went to the ballgame, but the girls and I stayed home and watched Shrek, Shrek II, Shrek Forever After and Scared Shrekless!!! (I got to get updated scores of the game as I changed movies!)

Jim, Ed and Krisha

Today when they came over, we (Aubrey, Lainey, Pop Pop, D, and Dan) had to pretend that we were having a parade in the backyard. One person held the baton, another played the drums, another threw out candy to the crowd, and the other person was the crowd! Over and over, and over again! They have a wonderful imagination.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend too!

Catching up.......

Several people have asked why I haven't been updating our blog. I could say that I've just been lazy and haven't been as dedicated to it as I should be, but instead I am going to say that it is because we have been busy living life, instead of writing about it! (Sounds better, right?)

Jim recently became the Plywood Plant Superintendent for Koch (Georgia Pacific) in Taylorsville, MS. God has truly blessed us with this opportunity. It also put him closer to home! He is very excited about the challenges ahead with this position.

We have been very active in our church's Life Group. If you aren't familiar with what this is, instead of having Sunday night services at our church, we meet in each other's homes. We have been blessed to become part of a group that  is totally amazing. We can not imagine facing any kind of life situation without these Christian friends beside us.
We have a "theme" each week (Mexican, Tailgating, Comfort Foods, etc.) and everyone brings a dish. We eat, discuss the morning sermon given by Brother Dan (Williams), do praise/prayer request and then eat again!!!! What could be better!!
Jim and I have hosted two of the Life Group meetings recently and enjoyed having these great people in our home. They are no longer guests, they are family!
Some of the great people in our group:

Scott & Kathy

David & Karen , Reagan

Aleixs & Autumn

Gerald & Denise

Rick & Kristy

Luke, Kristy & family
Joseph & Courtney

Naturally, most of our time is spent being Pop Pop and "D" to the girls. They are growing up so fast and changing so much.

Beautiful Litte Girls, no longer babies :(

Mascots for Berry's Homecoming
Helping Krisha blow our her birthday candles!
All our beautiful girls together

Eli has been battling an ear infection and allergies all summer. Hopefully this last round of medication finally resolved the ear infection. He loves when the girls come to visit.

And, we have really, really been enjoying BAMA football, ROLL TIDE.

(Notice ANYTHING wrong with that picture? We still love you Dan!!!)

OH, some more exciting news..................

I have offically become a member of a ladies Bunco group. We meet once a month for a wonderful time of eating, socializing and playing Bunco. This game is so addictive! I love playing it and I am having so much fun with these 11 ladies!! (Did I mention I won last month???? I won all the great gifts for Fall decorating, my house looks great!)

I am sure I am leaving out an important event that happened, but this should catch the blog up. Thanks for reading...........now, back to living, not writing about it.
