Thankful for these gifts in our lives..........

This would have been the one!

Call me Scrooge, but I haven't gotten around to doing Christmas cards. However, if I had, the picture below would definitely be the winner for it!

Fun with Moma D

Krisha and I both had hair appointments today, so we played "tag team" with keeping the girls. Krisha and the girls met me after my appointment, Krisha took my car and I took her's with the girls. The girls and I went through the drive-thru at McDonalds for a couple of Happy Meals before coming home.

After finishing lunch, the girls played with their dolls and doll carriages while watching Barney.

(This little red rocker has been around for over 50 years! When my Uncle Edward Bryant was told that mother was pregnant with me, he went out and bought this for me! (((yes, I will be the BIG 5-0 soon!))) I used it, Krisha used it, and now the girls are "trying" to share it. (Read down a couple of posts if you want to know how that works between them!)

They soon figured out if there was only one rocker...................

Then, they discovered more fun.............

Then we watched the Wizard of Oz, then more fun time!

Update to last post..........

MawMaw didn't want either of her girls to be sad or fight over a tricycle..............so now Aubrey and Lainey both own their very own!!!

When Moma D doesn't, MawMaw Perkins does! (yes, Krisha learned this at a very early age and has taught it to her girls as well!)

WHY?

Aubrey's expression explains why! Why we buy two of everything, not just one!

I see this expression so many times when the girls are playing. One of them will start playing with something that the other doesn't have or if we give something to one and not the other...........we get this sad, innocent, and rejected look that melts our hearts. They look at us with those big eyes if saying, "Why didn't I get one, cause I really want one too?"
(Picture was taken at a birthday party, only one tricycle available and Lainey jumped on it first)

They have Popa Jim  POP POP so wrapped around their little fingers now. A couple of weeks ago they started saying Pop Pop to him, and now they have him completely under their spell!!!!

We love these "Happy Faces"

Our babies are becoming little girls....

"Pack a Shoe Box"

Our church, Harvest Church, along with several other churches in the Northport/Tuscaloosa area will be "packing shoe boxes" for Operation Christmas Child soon. This project is done through

"Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world."

"Every shoe box offers an opportunity to share the Good News
of the Savior with a hurting child."
 Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan's Purse
  • 8 MILLION CHILDREN received shoe boxes last year
  • OVER 130 COUNTRIES have received shoe boxes since 1993
  • ONE MISSION: To demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

I want to urge you, if your church is not a part of this great ministry, that you get them involved. You can also become involved as an individual, or with family and friends.

This afternoon I went to the Dollar Tree in Northport to purchase items for our boxes. There were three other ladies in the store doing the same thing! We did not know each other or attend the same church, but we had a great time picking out things to go into the boxes.

However,  the most heartwarming sight was a little boy (7-8 years old) and his sister (4-5 years old) helping too. Each child was picking out items to go into a shoebox that would be given to a child in their age group.

It filled my heart to know that these children "got it"......they understood that Christmas is about giving to those less fortunate than we are. I pray that Aubrey and Lainey  will  "get it" when they are older too. I want to start a yearly tradition with them to shop for items to go in the shoe boxes for little girls their ages.

The 2010 National Collection Week is November 15-22. All the information needed can be found at the web site above. Or if you would just like to donate items for us to pack at Harvest Church, please leave me a comment.

Veteran's Day

We want to say thank you to all of our soldiers, those that served in the past and those presently serving our country. There are no words to express our gratitude to these men and women for their service.

Jim and I would like to say a very special thank you to our brother-in-law, Colonel Mark Prine. He is with the 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command unit of the Mississippi Army National Guard and recently arrived in Afghanistan for a one-year deployment. (His second tour)
